I don't regularly write poetry, but when I do it's because I've been extremely emotionally connected to an experience or something...that seems to be my pattern of behaviour anyway! This poem was inspired by two influential people for me at the time of writing...Thanks to you both 🙂
Did you find a Bright, Shiny Object? By Ingrid Lee
Perhaps you're looking for something you've lost.
Perhaps you're looking for something you remembered you had, but then it slipped away.
Perhaps you're looking for that fix which makes you feel complete, excites and makes you feel like you.
Perhaps you've found a bright, shiny object which you think will fulfil the loss.
Perhaps you've found a bright, shiny object which gives you a great feeling, a feeling of importance...relevance.
Perhaps you think it can...but it really can't.
Because you can't find the authentic answer to your problem in bright, shiny objects, it doesn't last.
Because bright, shiny objects grow dim, and dull over time...and then you'll have to search for a new one.
BUT, it's not all bad.
Bright shiny objects can inspire a new pathway to yourself.
Bright shiny objects can be candy for your soul.
Bright shiny objects can help you find the bright shiny object within yourself...and start your next journey.
Where are you at?
