I’m reading “The Gospel According to Coco Chanel” by Karbo

Yes I know I paint, write, work, blog, social network...who'd think I have the time to read, with family and a household to run as well??  Yes, I do read everyday...articles online for business, education, creativity, art, beauty- you know random stuff, but sometimes when I just have too much going on, and I know this is going to sound weird...I add more to my plate, and start a book.  I have a few books on the go, just to break up what is rattling around in my brain, and think about something differently.  Currently I am reading "The Gospel According to Coco Chanel," by Karen Karbo 2009.

"Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn," Coco Chanel.

Can I say that I adore Coco Chanel, and I have always been inspired by her talent, creativity, marketing and entrepreneurial accumen.  This book by Karbo tells the story simply, and with good humour.  I must say this book is the brain break I need at the moment-very easy reading, nothing to analyze or delve too deeply into, other than observe and apply some of Chanel's quips and approaches to her strategies for creating her world, empire and artistry.

Most enjoyable quote

"A Woman who doesn't wear perfume has no future," Coco Chanel

My two favourite fragrances for last 3 years, which I never leave the door without wearing one of : Chanel's Allure Sensuelle parfum or Chanel's Cristalle Eau Verte as a summer time fragrance.  I had to wait mind you until I was around 33 years old (a few years ago now!) to even be able to wear Chanel parfum, it just didn't suit me when I was younger.  But my desire to wear Chanel fragrances started with the fact that my great grandmother wore Chanel#5 back in the late 1920s Russia, (and she sported a Clara Bow bob hairstyle and danced the Charleston), only wore this fragrance, saying that you are not dressed unless you have your eyes kohled and parfum on...I think I have upheld the tradition well *lol* 🙂

Now I must get back to painting 🙂

I think I need to get and read this book-she fascinates me. I must say, the Chanel fragrances didn't work for me or my pocket book until I got older-not saying how old-but I love the Coco Mademoiselle-my hubby REALLY likes it!!
